I insist on this second catacomb because almost no one uses it. Those who book San Gennaro leave, consider it done, and don’t realise they still have half a ticket in their pocket. San Gaudioso is at Via della Sanità 123, ten minutes further down, and the admission right remains valid for twelve months. It works the other way around too. What makes the amount go up or down
There isn’t a single price list under Capodimonte: there are different formats, and the amount depends on three concrete factors.
Duration. A 45–50-minute slot in the catacombs and a three-hour guided walk along the Sacred Mile cannot be on the same line. The Sacred Mile keeps a guide occupied for three hours and includes admission to all stops.
How many stops it opens. The more sites included in the ticket, the higher the price. The underground walk through the Rione Sanità includes Palazzo dello Spagnuolo, the Ipogeo dei Cristallini, the Catacombs of San Gaudioso, and internal transport between stops: three descents in two hours.
Group size. Sharing a guide among ten people is not the same as sharing one among thirty. The Ipogeo dei Cristallini operates with a maximum of ten participants, and it shows—both in the quality of the experience and the cost. I discuss this in small-group tours.
Discounts and free entry
Discounts for age groups are available on all routes and are applied when you select the number and type of participants before paying: children and teenagers do not pay the same rate as adults. A specific case: at the Ipogeo dei Cristallini, entry is prohibited for children under eight and is free for those aged eight to twelve. Check the age group in the booking box before selecting the time slot, not after. The reduced rate changes the total, and in some routes, it also affects the right to enter.

Where the ticket money goes
The catacombs are managed by the social cooperative La Paranza, born in the Sanità district, and the official website is catacombedinapoli.it. We are not the operator and do not sell the official ticket. The reopening of the catacombs by the young people of the neighborhood has changed the area’s economy: the guided ticket revenue stays there, not elsewhere.

Is there a reduced-price ticket?
Yes, age-based discounts apply when you specify the participants in the booking box. At the Ipogeo dei Cristallini, for example, children under eight are not admitted, and entry is free for those aged eight to twelve. For visits with children, also read visiting with children.
Can I enter by paying only the admission fee, without a guide?
No. Access to the catacombs is only allowed during guided tours with fixed departure times and mandatory booking, so the guide is included in the ticket and not an extra charge. I explain why in guided tours.
Can I cancel if my plans change?
